Why am I writing a post about film production in Portugal ?
Simply because if we are talking about movies or advertising films, Portugal IS ATTRACTING ! I’m not going to start telling you my own experience, that would be boring. So here are some tips on how you can shoot a commercial in Portugal.
As an example, in 2018, a pop singer didn’t hesitate to use the best of Lisbon for her video. No, it’s not Madonna.
For the price ? The climate ? The light ? The scenery ? I think each reason is true.
The price is very advantageous. We have 265 days of sunshine a year. The sunsets in winter are famous and the proximity of the Atlantic reminds us of some of the landscapes of the Irish coast. Sharp contrasts between green and silver highlights. Ocean and hills separated by a half sandy, half rocky beach… A picture is worth a thousand words.
In the city at dusk, the magnificently paved mazes, the secret alleys, the majestic and moving squares.
The historic buildings : old, with rough parquet floors, with facades decorated with symbols and which give a second wind to the creativity of the producers.
I was very lucky to be able to participate in a few shootings. These experiences have given me a different perspective on the commercials that fill our daily lives. This is my favourite part of watching TV now.
The expressions I see on the actors’ faces are like workshops !
