Aprender, Beber, Comer : event Tchin-Tchin #1

The wines of Quinta do Perdigão, DOC Dão

The Quinta do Perdigão opens the ball of educational aperitifs under the name **tchintchin**! These Portuguese wine tastings are, for VisitmyLisbon.com, the opportunity to present the country over a glass. The terrace of the venue was sold out and the feedback was excellent.

The terroir and the quinta

Distinguished by Wine Opus as one of the world’s top 4000 wineries, Quinta do Perdigão is the most awarded in the Dão region, which it has represented with dignity since 1999.

Respectful of the land, the vineyard favours quality over quantity. The 8 hectares of vineyards are organic and are located at an altitude of 365 metres. The Dão region is an exceptional terroir, allowing the production of remarkable wines.

A visit to the property is a call to the senses. The balance of the olive trees that line the dirt road is sober. At sunset, during the harvest, the vines are tinged with gold. The colours warm the atmosphere and the smells are revealed. The fig leaf reveals notes of coconut, peach and apricot.

Among the particularities of these charismatic wines, freshness and minerality due to the granitic soils stand out. The reds are gaining in notoriety thanks to the king grape varieties of Jaen, Touriga Nacional and Alfrocheiro. Its rosé is more than respectable and the white encruzado is simply excellent.

Within this quinta, the nectar is bottled in numbered bottles with refined, exclusive labels and back labels.

The man : José Perdigão

At the head of this beautiful estate is José Perdigão. Master of the brotherhood of producers in the region, he leads the Quinta do Perdigão project and defends the wines of the Dão, its natural and cultural heritage.

He is also called « O arquiteto » after his first profession and is surrounded by his family to carry out this project. His daughter Mafalda is an oenologist and his wife Cristie is the artist who creates most of the labels. José goes for walks with his pets. Two dogs named Touriga and Boulanger, but also the cat Rossini.

He contemplates his vineyard while conversing. It’s obvious that he enjoys visits even if he has little time. What he enjoys most is certainly savouring his wine with his close friends.
