Lisbon is beautiful. No need to remind you of that. Alone or as a couple, with a Lonely planet guide in your hands and your head full of plans. We are ready to visit Lisbon off the beaten track ! At least, we believe so...

An experience in Lisbon :

Like most tourists, I knew what to do : "Friends told me about Belém and the pastry shop. The lift too, I want to go there ! And the castle is which way ?"

This attitude that characterised me 7 years ago punished me directly. I didn't optimise my week's holiday, I did what everyone else did : nothing extravagant that went beyond my plans.

I thought like that for a long time for many of my trips. No surprises or folklore. Just 100% typical tourist stuff !

Now I am a guide and I know what I am talking about. So this is a post to try to change tourism.

Getting a guide in Lisbon

I’m certainly preaching to the choir. But just imagine what I have to deal with every day: « Is the pasteis de Belém over there ? » « Is the lift worth it ? » « The fado, where should we go to hear it? »

All these questions to do exactly what our neighbour did 3 months earlier… Wow -_- Exciting.

No, not for me, not for anyone. If the classics are basic and should be considered, nothing could be further from the truth than placing them as must-sees !

What discerning tourists want are experiences. What we like as humans : surprises !

Don't be afraid to change your plans and prepare for the unexpected !

Off the beaten track, you will see typical scenes of life, locals chatting, families arguing, friendly bars, crowded terraces, others hidden…

I love Lisbon. I like to smile and laugh. I like to live well and say yes to a concert, a play, an exhibition… I also like to invite people to my house and share a can of sardines, a wine I like or a piece of cake that only my girlfriend knows how to make.

I have tamed Lisbon and it is off the beaten track that I like to go. I offer it to you in my own way.
